Green Township -- the No Zoning Zone! ·Within Hamilton County, Green & Columbia Townships are the only local governments with no zoning authority.
Hard to believe, but Green Township has no zoning jurisdiction. Most of the Township's zoning authority was turned over to the County decades ago; however, Green Township retained a small portion of jurisdiction in the Monfort Heights Area and areas west. In 2002, the township trustees voted to subrogate all zoning powers to Hamilton County. Fact! No zoning power makes township trustees unaccountable. Fact! No zoning power exposes the township to third-party rule. Fact! No zoning power limits homeowner redress of property issues.
